An Ingenious Strategy For Writing More Books

I was listening to one of the audio recordings from The Titans of Direct Response Marketing seminar which I purchased recently. http://titansdvds.com.

And in it, one of the biggest Titans, Gary Bencivenga, was talking about the best time to write.

He said that the first hour of the morning was the best time because (and I'm paraphrasing here) it's a mix of time in the brain between the awake conscious mind and the still-sleepy unconscious mind, which makes it the best time to let great ideas flow.

This is also somewhat echoed by others like author Jack Canfield who calls the first hour of the day his "Hour of Power" which he uses for 20 minutes each of exercise, meditation and reading. You can read more about it at http://jackcanfield.com/blog/tools-for-success-hour-of-power/.

And there is also, of course, writer and speaker, Hal Elrod who years ago devised his Miracle Morning strategy to help people really set up their day so they feel highly motivated and productive.

He even wrote a book about it that has been one of the world's best sellers for years. The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed To Transform Your Life… (Before 8AM) is one of the highest rated books on Amazon and is being widely regarded as “one of the most life-changing books ever written.”

It's based on the premise that how you start your day largely determines the quality of your day, your work, and your life. http://viewbook.at/MiracleMorning.

And I've found the first hour of my day to be the best time to write my books.

Before I do anything else like check emails or check my diary to see what I'll be working on for the rest of the day, I get out my latest manuscript and work on that for an hour.

I find that my ideas flow much more freely and easily.

And it also helps me because even if other things come up during the day so that I don't get as much writing done as I wanted to, at least I've moved further forward on my book.

And it's an ingenious way to make sure that I get more writing done because as Hal Elrod says in his book, The Miracle Morning, how you start your day determines the quality of the rest of the day.

The Simple Way to Write More That I Learned From a Top Copywriter

Years ago I downloaded an audio interview with top copywriter, Bob Bly.

If you haven't heard of him before, he is one of the highest-paid copywriters in the industry and has worked freelance for many years.

He works out of his rented office where he writes every day.

In the interview (http://www.hardtofindseminars.com/Bob_Bly_Copywriting.htm) Bob talked about one of the problems with being a busy writer, is getting bored with what he's writing.

This is a problem for many writers. Including me. If I get bored with what I'm writing, then I quickly lose interest in it.

And when I listened to the Bobl Bly interview he talked about how he has the same problem and how he handles it.

He said that he always makes sure he has several different projects he's working on at the same time, so if that if he gets bored with one, he puts it away and starts on another one.

He said he works as a copywriter full time and he needs to keep working every day if he wants to earn money so he can't afford to get bored. But as long as he has different things to work on, he can simply switch from one to another.

And I found this information to be gold, so I do the same.

If I'm tired of writing blog posts, or I'm simply not in the mood, I write a marketing article instead or write a promotion for an affiliate product or work on my book.

Every week, I start by listing the writing I have to do and it's always a list of different things. So if I get bored with one, I just work on another. And if I get tired of writing, I'll start researching for another project or I'll outline my next book, or look through my ideas book or proof-read something I've already written.

I find that as long as I have something to switch to, I can keep working, and then get back to what I was stuck on the next day or whenever I'm ready.

I just have to keep going and that helps me to write more instead of stopping.

And more writing always equals more money.

Why You Shouldn't Buy Writing Products

Have you ever bought a writing product but found it made no difference at all to how much you write and how much money you earn?

Many of us (myself included) buy lots of writing products.

And the reason for buying them is so that we can write more and earn more.

But they don't always work.

And the reason that they don't work, is because we don't learn anything from them.

You see, it's easy to have an ideal of being a busy, productive writer churning out loads of great writing every day and earning lots of money from it.

But the reality is different.

Not much writing gets done and no, or very little, money is earned.

So you buy a writing product that promises to show you how to write more and earn more and...

Nothing.

Nothing changes.

At school, we learn most things by rote. The teacher goes over and over the same things until what they wanted us to learn was what they used to lovingly be called, "drilled into our heads."

And this is the same with anything we want to learn.

It won't happen by reading a book once. Or doing a course once, but never doing it again.

Instead you have to go over and over it and do things again and again until they are "drilled into your head."

So drag out those old writing courses and books and keep going over and over them until they are throughly drilled in.

If you don't have any old ones, get some new ones. But don't waste them. Go over and over them.

And don't stop until you've earned back at least 30-times what you paid for them.

Writing products should be an investment.

So make sure you get a good return on your investment.
