Writing Ebooks Quickly
It's no secret that ebooks have revolutionised the writing industry in ways no one could have predicted
And now there are authors writing and publishing one ebook after another and, even without a publishing company behind them, they're earning 6-figure incomes.
So how about you?
Have you ever given serious (and I mean REALLY serious) thought to writing ebooks?
The great thing about ebooks is that they can be as long or as short as you want them to be.
Some ebooks are only a few pages long while others are hundreds.
It's also possible to use short ebooks as a way to promote your other ebooks or your website or you freelance writing services.
The advantage of ebooks over print books is that there are no printing and shipping costs. You don't need to hire a shipping company to distribute your ebooks or to run to the post office yourself to post them.
And the best thing, is that they can be published straight away. You only have to click "upload." After that they can be purchased and paid for automatically.
But if you want to write and publish ebooks for a living, you have to be able to produce them quickly.
So how fast can you write an ebook?
Famous author Dan Kennedy who wrote the whole "BS" series of books, wrote an article called 'The Surprising Answer To “How Long Should It Take To Write A Book”'
In this article he said that nearly all his books were written in a week. He allows himself 30 hours to write a book.
He further says that Ray Bradbury wrote 'Farenheit 451' in 9 days, Anthony Burgess wrote 'A Clockwork Orange' in 3 weeks and Sarah Gruen wrote the famous 'Water for Elephants' in 4 weeks.
In my free ebook for writers called 'How to Write a Book in 6 Days' I also share some information about other famous authors who have produced some of their best work in ridiculously short spaces of time, including Sylvester Stallone who wrote the script for 'Rocky' in just 3 days.
My free ebook also goes into detail about how to write your own book in 6 days, including editing and proof reading. All you need is 3 clear days to do nothing but writing your first draft.
If you want to write an ebook quickly, all you need is a good detailed outline and that makes the actual writing of the first draft fast and easy.
It also helps if you're extremely organised so that you can get more done in less time which leaves more time for writing. If you want some help with this, read the article '12 Habits of Perfectly Organized People'.
You also need to make sure you have a set writing time every day. This has to be kept strictly for writing and nothing else. If you don't have a set time you may never actually sit down and write because you'll always think there are more pressing jobs to do.
And make sure that others respect your writing time. I can't tell you the amount of times that people drop round or phone me when I'm writing and think that it doesn't matter because I'm at home anyway.
Also, setting a strict writing schedule for yourself, gets you into a great writing habit and once you get used to writing every day, you'll want to do it more.
So if you can write an ebook a week, that's 50 ebooks a year (I let you have 2 weeks off). And it doesn't matter if your 50 ebooks are short promotional pieces or huge tomes of hundreds of pages.
You'll be making money from your work and have the satisfaction of writing every day.
