Sit at Home, Write, and Get Paid

I don't know about you, but when I first started writing, I thought the only way to make money was from freelance writing or writing a book and getting it published.

And I used to think to myself, "I wish I could just stay home, write whatever I want, and get paid."

So I started researching it online (everything is Googleable) and found out that it was indeed possible.

I learned about niche websites, which are different to online stores. They're information sites based on a single niche (subject). These days many of these sites are called blogs.

I found out that it was possible to create a niche website from scratch (or from a template), write content, find related products to sell for commission, earn money from advertisements, do online marketing - and all for free.

Without needing any more prompting, I set up my first site, then another, and then another. I felt like I was addicted, and I thought to myself, it doesn't get any better than this.

Over the years I've had several niche sites, because not only did I earn money, but it was fascinating to do. And as the online world changed, it got even easier.

And now you can do it too. Work from home doing what you love (writing) and earn money. It all starts with my new ebook, 'Build a Lucrative Niche Website in a Month.'

For the rest of this month (only a few days away), it's only 99 cents, so download your copy today and by this time next month you'll have your own site set up and earning money.

How To Make a Small Fortune With Niche Websites

We all want to be paid for our writing which is why most writers start out doing freelance work, and it's how I made my start too. Freelancing is a great way to earn money because you get paid for every acceptance.

To earn even more money at the same time, I set up my own niche website which worked out perfectly because in between writing and submitting work to publishers, I could write and upload my work to my own site. And what I quickly discovered was that it was possible to earn money this way, even when I had nothing to sell.

At first, I added some advertisements that I earned money from and then I began doing affiliate marketing and I learned that done correctly, it was extremely lucrative.

This led me to do more research and I found more ways to earn money online. I also set up more niche websites and kept writing and uploading my work. And the best part was that I got to choose what to write about.

Before I knew it, I was hooked and  I carried on working like this for several years. It also gave me time to do other things like writing books.

And now I'm going to show you how you can do it too in my new ebook, 'Build a Lucrative Niche Website in a Month.'

AND for the rest of this month it's only 99 cents. Which is only for a few days.

Download your own copy today. It's available at all good online ebook stores including Amazon https://amzn.to/3sO72uL. Or read it online for free with a 7 day free trial from Bookmate https://bookmate.com/books/b3Klc32Y.

Something You Can Do Today To Increase Your Writing Income

As a working writer, I've written and co-authored many books. I've also done plenty of freelance writing too, which is great for fast income.

One of the other things I do is set up and run niche websites.

Years ago, I had quite a few niche sites. I still have some but nowhere near as many as I used to have.

Niche websites are great because they can go on earning passive income while you get on with other writing projects. Or they can be your main source of income. I've known many writers who spend all their time writing articles and blog posts for their niche websites, and they usually set them up with several different streams of income.

One writer earned all his income from Pay Per Click ads on his niche sites. And his sites weren't big. Each had only a dozen or so pages. But because his articles were so targeted, he earned enough money so that he could quit his full-time job.

Now I'm not saying that everyone can be that successful, but just one niche website can provide ongoing income.

Writers aren't paid by the hour which is why I've always found it important to earn money from my writing every way I can. And having my own niche websites has been a big part of that.

Right now my 2nd ebook in The Monthly  Challenge Writing Series - Build a Lucrative Niche Website in a Month - (published this week) is available for only 99 cents. But only until the end of this month.

Download a copy from Amazon https://amzn.to/3sO72uL, or read it for free from Bookmate on a free 7-day trial https://bookmate.com/books/b3Klc32Y and you can start working on your own niche website today.

There are only a few days left to get it at this ridiculously low price.

It will be the best 99 cent investment you ever make.

How to Write an Ebook

If you want to write an ebook, you can write anything you want.

But if you want to sell your ebook, there are important things you need to consider, in particular, the one I'm going to tell you about.

Why I'm Unpublishing One of My Ebooks

I have several ebooks published for writers. But sadly I'm having to retire one of them and so I've "unpublished."it.

If you're an affiliate of mine then you need to remove any links to this ebook that you have on your website.

The ebook in queston is E-Publish and Be Damned!

I'm not retiring this book because it's not selling, but rather because the information it contains has now become somewhat outdated.

You see, recently Amazon changed it's layout for Kindle accounts AND they now also made it possible to publish print books through your Kindle account too.

So naturally, this renders all the information in my ebook about Kindle publishing as outdated.

There are also more changes to come with Kindle Print publishing because it's still in the beta stage so more options and services will be added in the not-to-distant future. So it's no good updating my ebook because the way Amazon operates these accounts keeps changing.

Also opening and using a Kindle Publishing account is now really easy with plenty of help and guidance along the way.

If you want to publish through an Amazon Kindle account (which now includes POD publishing too, all in the one account) then all you have to do is go to kdp.amazon.com and sign up.

It's quick to do, simple and free.

Setting up an account with Amazon costs you nothing and your books and ebooks are made available worldwide. And in the US (currently the only country allowed) KIndle ebooks can be loaned through public libraries, although so far there is no mention of payment to the authors for this service which is understandably starting to get under a few people's skin.

So although my ebook has been withdrawn from sale, you can still quickly and easily sell all your books and ebooks through one Amazon account.

And it doesn't get any easier than that.

How to Write a Successful How-To Ebook

How To Write a Non-Fiction eBook in 21 Days That Readers Love!
So often I see writers think that to write a great how-to ebook, all they have to do is write about how to do something.

Wrong.

For a how-to ebook to be successful (and by that I mean it sells well and is popular) it must contain these three essential things.

Topic.         Your ebook topic must have a hungry market. It must be a problem that people are already trying to solve. So first find your market and see what problems they are having. Then let your ebook be the answer.

How-To.    The big mistake that most how-to ebook authors make is that they forget to explain the how-to. It’s no good just talking about how to do something, your ebook must explain the exact steps that the readers need to take.

Pitfalls.     Not only do your readers need to know how to do something but they also need to know what could go wrong and how to fix it when it does. Otherwise they’ll stop at the first pitfall and say that your method doesn’t work.

So before you write one word of your how-to ebook, make sure:

- that there is a market for the information that you’re providing

- that you are providing a step-by-step guide

And

- that you warn them of what could go wrong and how to fix it.

Just by including these 3 things will ensure that your how-to ebook is better than most.

Discounted Ebooks For Writers

Discounted Ebooks for Writers.“Percent” image by renjith krishnan
A few weeks ago I decided to change the price of my ebooks which has resulted in discounted ebooks for writers for many people.

The decision to change my prices came about because all my ebooks (and books) were priced in US dollars.

So I made a management decision to change the currency in which I sell them, to Australian dollars.

The reason I priced them in US dollars in the first place was because most people understand the value of the US dollar and relatively few people (except those in Oz) understand the value of the Australian dollar.

But because I'm Australian and my publishing company is established in Australia, I decided to make all my books and ebooks available for sale in Australian dollars and this has resulted in discounted ebooks for those purchasing them from the US.

This is because our dollar is higher in value than a US dollar and so the comparative American price is now significantly lower for all my ebooks for writers.

I've also provided a currency converter on all my sales pages so that the price can be converted instantly to any currency, so you can see how it compares to the country that you live in and the currency that you use.

You can see all my new ebooks and book prices at http://cheritonhousepublishing.com.

And for those of you living in the US, it means you can now buy my products at significantly discounted prices.

Proof That There is Money to Be Earned From Short Ebooks

Recently I was doing a Google search for writing markets to include in my latest newsletter for writers.

I came a cross jobs for ebooks writers so I clicked through to see what they were.

The jobs were advertised on freelancing job websites.

I didn't use these jobs in my list of markets because they weren't high-paying, but I was amazed by them all the same.

Nearly all were looking for someone to research and write a short ebook of around 5,000 words.

I thought "Only 5,000 words? That is really short! I've read article on people's blogs that are longer than that (take a look at Steve Pavlina's How to Make Money From Your Blog as an example). And it's only about a 25-page ebook, or 30 if you include cover pages, disclaimer pages, etc.

And for this they are willing to pay the writer several hundred dollars. Why so much? Because there seems to be a lot of money in ebook publishing. In my most recent newsletter I linked to an article about this called $2700/Month of Passive Income by Publishing Kindle eBooks, and No Writing.

So it became clear that if people will pay writers hundreds of dollars to write a short ebook, it's because they are making much, much more money from the writers hard work.

Most of theses ads offered plenty more ongoing work for the right person. Some said they would keep the writer busy for a year.

The downside to these jobs is that they wanted the ebooks completed in a week - or less, in just 5 days.

Is it even possible to research and write a short ebook this quickly? You bet it is. And it has all given me much food for thought. (Who is this guy called Thought and why do I keep feeding him?)

And hopefully it will feed your thoughts too.

Because I now have proof that there is a lot of money to be made from writing and publishing short ebooks.

But wouldn't it be better to write them for yourself and keep all the profit?

You can do it with my 7 Day Ebook Writing & Publishing System.

How I Work as an Online Writer And How I Get Such Great Ebook Covers

This week I began teaching a class at the local community college. I will also be teaching the class, twice a week for 6 weeks which will be starting soon.

They call the class Laptop Lifestyle.

I thought I wouldn't be any good at speaking in front of a class, but I didn't do so bad.

And I discovered that the old saying is true, that when one teaches, two learn, which means both the teacher and student gain insight.

Which is what happened to me because the question the people in the class kept asking me was how do I actually do these things myself. They wanted to know the exact ins and outs of how I work.

That made me realise that I rarely offer insights into how I work on a day-to-day basis, the software and apps I use, the websites I use, the equipment I use, or the ways I simplify the way I work so that I'm more productive.

I realised that many of the things I know aren't common knowledge, despite the way I always think that if I know something, everyone probably does.

So I've decided to change that and from now on I'll reveal much more than I usually do, to show you how I work and what I use so that, hopefully, it will help you too.

And because there's no time like the present, here is my first insight.

How to Sell More Books Than Ever Before

E-Publish and be Damned!
A question was asked a few days ago about the best price to sell a Kindle book.

The person had written a book and was selling it as a Kindle eBook for $2.99. The sales weren't great so after a few months they reduce the price to 99 cents and then sold even less.

They were questioning which is the best price to sell an ebook for in the Kindle store?

But the answer has nothing to do with price.

2 Free Kindle Books I Downloaded Today

Today I found two great books on Kindle available for free download so I got them both.

I was originally only looking for one ebook called Rapid Wordpress Websites: Learn Wordpress on a need-to-know basis to build a website in hours, not days!

But after I downloaded it there was a link to other free and cheap ebooks.

One of the free ebooks was written by an author that I'm a fan of so I downloaded that one too.

Using My Dictionary of Appropriate Adjectives

I’ve been doing quite a bit of freelance writing lately and one of the most useful reference books I’ve been using is The Cassell Dictionary of Appropriate Adjectives.

This is an old book and was origianally intended to be used by Foreigners whose first language was not English.

But I find it to be an extremely useful book for writers.
