Quite often, writers use their writing ability for affiliate marketing instead of creating their own products. And I’m no different. I use affiliate marketing as a way to earn more money.
And if you’re thinking of doing the same, here are 3 things you need to consider which are Time, Different Ways to Market and How Much Money You Can Earn.
So let's take a look at all three.
1. Time. While it’s faster to advertise someone else’s products rather than create your own, you have to remember that you’ll only earn a portion of the sale price, not the whole amount like you would if you were selling your own products.
You can join large affiliate networks like ClickBank.com or the Self Development Network to find products to sell. It’s faster and more convenient to sell lots of products listed in one network than to join lots of individual affiliate programs.
Many vendors offer their affiliates creatives that they can use too, such as banners, emails and images.
2. Ways to Market. Affiliate marketing can be done in different ways and depending on time, product and audience, all of which will influence the way that marketing is done.
It can simply be a matter of placing banner and image ads on your website.
You can also use email as a way of marketing.
If you have enough time you can also write articles and free ebooks to give away that contain your affiliate links.
Or you could do all three.
3. Money. Different affiliate programs offer different commissions with many being as high as 75%.
But because you don’t own the product, you have no control over the price of what you sell it for.
On the other hand, good affiliates who consistently make high sales, are often paid extremely high commissions.
Rosalind Gardner, who wrote “The Super Affiliate Handbook: How I Made $436,797 in One Year Selling Other People's Stuff Online” is living proof that there is good money to be earned through affiliate marketing.
So if you need to earn extra money, you can put your writing skills to use marketing products for commission.
Or you can simply display banners and images for affiliate products on your website, while you get on with your writing.
