Write a Book That People Want To Read

Before you write a book there’s one thing that you need to have first.

And you must have it before you even write one word.

Do you know what this one thing is?

Readers.

You need people who want to read your book.

So how do you make them want to read it?

You answer the question that they’re all thinking:

“What’s in it for me?”

No one will buy anything, not even a book, if it doesn’t benefit them in some way.

They don’t care how good your book is. They only care about how it can help them.

So why should they read it?

You need to answer this question when you market your book.

And it’s also what you need to put in every chapter.

You need to tell them “why” they need to keep reading what you’re going to tell them.

In my ebook “The 7-Day Ebook Writing and Publishing System” putting a “why” in every chapter and in all your marketing is discussed in detail.

And that’s just one of the ways it will help you write and sell more books.

Just think of how many books you could write in a year and how much money could you earn if you knew how to write and publish a book in just 7 days?

You’ve Written a Book. Now Comes The Hard Part

Every time I write a book I know it’s good and how much it will help people.

But the hard part is letting them know that.

It’s true that selling a book is a lot harder than writing it, and anyone who’s ever written a book knows that.

This is why copywriters are highly paid.

They know how to get people’s interest and to write a vision so great, that customers are dying to buy whatever product they’re trying to sell.

But most people, like us, can’t afford to pay thousands of dollars to a copywriter.

This is why copywriting is important to learn.

It doesn’t matter if you’re selling your own books or working as an affiliate marketer. You need to be able to write sales pages, blog posts, and emails that emote good feelings of wanting to buy what you’re selling.

Luckily, there are plenty great books about copywriting that can show you how to do it.

One copywriter whose books I always recommend (and use myself) are those written by Ben Settle.

And here are a couple of them.

I can personally guarantee that they’re good.

Writing Doesn’t Get Easier. You Get Better.

No matter what you want to do in life, you can only get good at it with practice.

This is why writing every day is SO important, because the more you write, the faster and better you get which makes it feel so much easier.

Think of it like a bricklayer learning to lay bricks.

If you’ve ever watched them, they’re really fast at what they do and so precise.

It’s amazing to watch how they slap down bricks and scrape on mortar so quickly and yet the bricks are spaced apart perfectly and the thickness of the mortar between them is so even.

Yet they seem to be slapping it on haphazardly.

But that’s how practice helps them to be so efficient and skilled.

They weren’t born with that ability. It took years of practice and apprenticeship.

And it’s the same with everything we do.

Remember the first time you ever tried to drive a car?

At first, it seemed so hard with so much to do at the same time with gears, accelerator, brakes, indicators, steering, and mirrors. Not to mention all the other traffic on the road, and watching speed signs, road signs and traffic lights.

But then after much practice, driving seemed so much easier and you no longer had to think about what you were doing. And now you just get in and drive.

And it's the same with writing because the more you do it, the easier it seems and so the faster you get.

But it’s not because the writing is easier to do. It’s the same. Just like laying bricks or learning to drive a car.

None of those things change. It’s just you that gets better.

And if you have a writing system that you use over and over again, it will soon seem as though the books write themselves.

That’s why I published my 7 Day Ebook Writing and Publishing System that takes you from idea to finished ebook - AND sales -  in just 7 days.

And you can use it over and over again.

Once you have a system that works, you just have to use it for all your books to get them all written fast.

Plus you’ll also receive the bonus ebook, How to Write a Short Report in 2 Hours.

It makes writing books SEEM easy, but it’s just helping you to get better.

The Writing Is On The Wall

For over 2 weeks now I've been busy painting.

It's not that I'm any kind of artist.

The painting I've been doing is painting the whole exterior of my house (with a little bit of help from my husband, of course.)

It's a huge task, far bigger than I first anticipated.

And we've been painting all day, every day now for over 2 weeks and today is our first day off, and we still have at least another week of work ahead of us. (sad face)

Below is a before and after shot of one of the walls on our verandah. The first picture was taken by the realtor before we moved in and the second picture is the wall painted and the verandah items replaced, including Banjo, sitting on his doggy hammock. I just couldn't keep him out of the photo, sigh...

But you can see how much better the house looks already.

So with today as my one and only day off from painting, I've been doing a bit of writing and catching up on a few other chores as well.

But despite the long, tedious, work of house painting, I have learned a really good lesson from it.

And that is, sticking at a job gets it done. And it also gives me a feeling of satisfaction when I see how much work we get through every day.

And this doesn't only apply to painting. It's the same with everything I do.

If I stick with it and get it done, not only does it get finished, but it feels really good to have achieved something.

And the way to stick to doing something is to make it a number one priority and not let other things get in the way.

It's so easy to get distracted. Like with me last week. One of my chickens got really ill and I had to take her to the vet. Thankfully she was put on a course of antibiotics and started to get better after a few days, but I was so worried about her and I kept going into the garden to sit with her for a few minutes as often as I could. But I had to keep painting, plus there really wasn't much more I could do for her except stop her feeling alone.

I took a photo of her at the weekend because I thought she was going to die. Even the vet didn't hold out much hope for her. And you can see in the photo that Miss Broken Comb (so named for obvious reasons) was so ill that she couldn't even hold her head up or open her eyes.

Thank goodness she's well now and running around with her 8 friends again. :)

I have also spent the last couple of weeks getting up early and rushing around doing other jobs and then walking the dog late every day so that we could keep painting while we still had the daylight.

But it has been a good lesson in finding the one important thing to do every day and prioritising it over everything else.

Because it works.

And the same can be applied to every day, no matter what that day's number one thing is.

Most days, it's writing. That is my number one thing I have to do. So all other tasks and chores have to take a back seat.

And that's how to get plenty of writing done.

Find books to help you write and earn money.
And then make it your number one task and do it.
