Making Money Online With Amazon's Publisher Studio

If you're an affiliate of Amazon.com you can now take advantage of their new Publisher Studio toolbar.

This is like nothing they've done before because it's a toolbar that you add to your website so that when you view your site online, you can add affiliate links to Amazon products without going to the Amazon website.

All you have to do is log into your Amazon affiliate account, click on the new tab for 'Publisher Studio,' add your website URL, copy and paste the supplied code to every page of your website, and that's it.

Next time you view your website online, the Publisher toolbar will appear at the edge of your screen.

You then highlight any word or phrase you want to link to an Amazon product. The new widget will open a window with suggestions for products, or you can choose your own, click on the product you want to link to and voila! A link to the chosen product on Amazon is inserted with your affiliate code included.

I've been using Amazon's Publisher Studio on my websites now for the past few weeks.

As an example, look at my article What You Need To Do If You’re Not Earning Enough Money From Your Writing at http://writeaholics.net/articles/2014/not-earning-enough.html. I added a few Amazon affiliate links to the text, using the Publisher Studio toolbar and it took me less than a minute to do it.

This is great for writers because every time you mention one of your books or ebooks, you can instantly add your Amazon affiliate link to it every time.

Also setting up the toolbar in the first place easy and fast to do. I even installed it on this blog, even though it's a free Blogger blog and it's hosted by Google.

If you want to try the new Publisher Studio, simply log into your Amazon affiliate account and start pasting the the toolbar code into your website pages. There is also a short video you can watch that shows you how to do it so you can't go wrong.

March 7th. Update

Okay. So I've received feedback that certain browsers can be set to block ads such as Amazon Publisher Studio. But I have found a simple solution to get around it.

I published a page on this blog. Once it was live I used Amazon Publisher Studio to insert links. I then copied all the links (right-click>copy link), went back into my dashboard to edit the article and pasted in the links myself.

Ta da! I now have the links embedded and it was a lot easier than logging into my Amazon affiliate account, finding each product, getting the links and pasting them in one by one.

The page I did this to is http://writeaholic-inspiration.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/reading-learning-and-writing.html (the links will open in a new window).

It took me about a minute to get the links using Publisher Studio and then another minute or so to copy and paste them into the page permanently.

So it's still pretty quick to do and it's probably what I'll be doing from now on.

  1. Thanks for the heads-up about this tool, Ruth. It is potentially a useful resource. My one reservation is that (along with many other people) I use the AdBlock Plus add-on for Firefox, and this automatically hides all links created by Publisher Studio. On balance I think I will still create my own links, therefore.

  2. Thanks for your input. I don't use Firefox (I have a Mac so I use Safari) so I know that all Mac users, at least, will see my ads. And Publisher Studio is so fast to use, I still think it's worth it.

Having said that, I also use mostly my own links on my web pages too. It's always the best and safest isn't it?

Time will tell if Publisher Studio helps boost my Amazon affiliate income. I'll be watching it.
